He doesn't want to squash anyone's enthusiasm for it.

I¡¯ve said it before, but it¡¯s a bit like being a part of a beloved holiday special on TV, in a perennial niche carved out alongside the McSweeney¡¯s classic ¡°It¡¯s Decorative Gourd Season, Motherfuckers.¡± To be able to participate in something of such lasting appeal shouldn¡¯t be taken for granted.
