<a href="http://shockwave1.m0.net/m/s.asp?HB2826198999X956703X46967X">"I've been declared dead by better coroners than you!"</a> Just when I'm about to once again lose faith, this happens. Jay Sherman is <B>back</B>. Jon Lovitz's lovingly annoying show <B>The Critic</B> has been canned by three (count'em) THREE major networks. Now, it's the Internet's turn! May the fourth time be the charm for this guy. All balding, fat men with big mouths and ex-wives <I>rejoice</I>! We've got a reprieve!

<SMALL>Warning: above links require shockwave but you already knew that. Gee, I hope the link works. If it doesn't, try <A href="http://www.shockwave.com">this one</A> then look around for a bald guy with a big nose. No celebrities were harmed in the making of this MeFi post. </SMALL> post:www.metafilter.com,2000:site.4976Thu, 28 Dec 2000 21:53:09 -0800ZachsMindjayshermanjonlovitzthecriticshockwaveBy: mathowie

Sweet! TiVo catches every episode of The Critic for me, but the possibility of seeing new episodes is great news. How many will macromedia fund?comment:www.metafilter.com,2000:site.4976-37163Thu, 28 Dec 2000 22:12:59 -0800mathowieBy: viama

Yay! Even this pared down version is great. I never understood why The Critic didn't take off in the way it should have done. Was there wrangling behind the scenes?comment:www.metafilter.com,2000:site.4976-37186Fri, 29 Dec 2000 03:20:44 -0800viamaBy: Mick

I watched the show somewhat religeously on Comedy Central before they cut it. I emailed Macromedia (on their feedback page) thanking them for putting the show up on their site. Hopefully positive feedback will keep the shows coming.comment:www.metafilter.com,2000:site.4976-37199Fri, 29 Dec 2000 06:51:19 -0800ZebulunBy: RakDaddy

Oh, man...that just made my day. The show seemed like such a perfect compliment to "The Simpsons" when FOX picked it up. Why they don't give Matt Groening and Mike Reiss complete control over their comedy lineup, I'll never know.
But, then again, I'm also thinking about the network that brought us "When The World's Greatest Millionaire Weddings Attack And Get Chased By The Police."comment:www.metafilter.com,2000:site.4976-37222Fri, 29 Dec 2000 09:11:37 -0800RakDaddyBy: mzanatta

I don't think that Groening was involved in the Critic. I think the "people behind The Simpson's" means James L. Brooks.
Either way, happy to have it back.

<Comic Book Guy>Ah, true, but Mike Reiss has his hands in both "The Simpsons" and "The Critic." Obviously, his brilliance, coupled with that of Groening, could bring about a truly splendiforous era of comedy on FOX. "The Critic," "Futurama," and "The Simpsons" all running non-stop. With guest shots from Seven Of Nine, of course...</Comic Book Guy>

¡°Why?¡± asked Larry, in his practical way. "Sergeant," admonished the Lieutenant, "you mustn't use such language to your men." "Yes," accorded Shorty; "we'll git some rations from camp by this evenin'. Cap will look out for that. Meanwhile, I'll take out two or three o' the boys on a scout into the country, to see if we can't pick up something to eat." Marvor, however, didn't seem satisfied. "The masters always speak truth," he said. "Is this what you tell me?" MRS. B.: Why are they let, then? My song is short. I am near the dead. So Albert's letter remained unanswered¡ªCaro felt that Reuben was unjust. She had grown very critical of him lately, and a smarting dislike coloured her [Pg 337]judgments. After all, it was he who had driven everybody to whatever it was that had disgraced him. He was to blame for Robert's theft, for Albert's treachery, for Richard's base dependence on the Bardons, for George's death, for Benjamin's disappearance, for Tilly's marriage, for Rose's elopement¡ªit was a heavy load, but Caro put the whole of it on Reuben's shoulders, and added, moreover, the tragedy of her own warped life. He was a tyrant, who sucked his children's blood, and cursed them when they succeeded in breaking free. "Tell my lord," said Calverley, "I will attend him instantly." HoME²Ô¾®¿Õ·¬ºÅѸÀ×Á´½Ó
