Redditor lg_cuber (also going by Grazzy on YouTube) has been recreating the entirety of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild map in Minecraft, along with the help of a few Minecraft community friends. This is a work in progress. It is glorious to behold. [YouTube] [Part 1] [Part 2] [Part 3]

Part 2 is especially wild b/c he had to redo the entire map and start over b/c he miscalculated the dimensions he needs to fully realize this project. Thankfully it wasn't the entire build, he was able to transfer and paste much of what he completed in Part 1, but damn, what a crappy thing to happen.

Even though he uses the World Painter software to create the bulk of the landscape, seeing him build so much of the map/structures in the game is amazing (even with the copy/paste functions in WorldEdit). The time lapses work really well to show the process. He does a great job despite the Minecraft limitations of only building in straight lines.

That's insane, in the best way possible. BOTW's landscape was a whole cast of characters unto itself, and watching this you can really feel the atmosphere of each area again. This is a great find, Fizz!

I didn't realize there are ways to copy/paste in minecraft. That has always been a showstopper for me: why would I rebuild the same object N times. Why can't I just copy/paste it? Why can't I just build one row of a wall and then copy/paste that row on top of itself 20 times to complete the wall? At first it seemed quaint, but soon became annoying. I'm glad there's a way around it.

Unlike a lot of video games, you see the BotW map from a lot of angles when you play, including lots of looking down from mountains and gliding over the landscape, so all this is more familiar and recognizable than, say, building Skyrim in Minecraft. The parts where he has to make straight lines and symmetrical structures at a 24-degree angle to the Minecraft grid is insane and amazing. This is great, Fizz. I suspect my kids have seen it, but if they haven't, it will be a big hit at Thanksgiving. Thanks!

You can copy-paste with structure blocks, I've done this (build a structure in singleplayer sandbox, copy to multiplayer world, paste in place) but it's a bit tedious and hard to fix if you place it incorrectly. This is really cool though. I have to love the dedication to getting it just right.

This is really awesome! Also taught me some things about large-scaled Minecraft world building that I had no idea about. I've been, as a small project, trying to do the Link to the Past map in MC and very slowly chugging along one block at a time. It's nothing compared to the scale of what he's doing here, but I will certainly steal some of his techniques!
